Burton DeWilde
Point Scholar: 2005-2007
Kalamazoo College
B.A., Physics and Spanish
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kalamazoo College with a B.A. in Physics and Spanish, Burton is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics at Stony Brook University. During his first year, Burton passed all of his core courses, organized a weekly seminar series for grad students in the department, and served as a T.A. for an introductory physics class. Over the summer, he did research in high-energy physics, joining in the search for the Higgs Boson. Currently, Burton is well into a second year of more specialized courses and heavily involved in research to test the quality of silicon sensors to be installed in the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.
Outside of academia, Burton remains active in the Point Foundation. He has contributed to the creation of an Alumni Association website, served on the Alumni Committee, and provided photographic services whenever needed. He was recently appointed a NY Regional Trustee, and looks forward to giving back to an organization that did so much for him.
