Point Scholars + Your Philanthropy = The Difference You MakeYou Can Make a Difference NowIf you want your gift to provide immediate resources for our scholarships, we welcome gifts of cash, securities, property and corporate matching gifts. (Check with your companys human resources department to find out how to multiply the power of your gift to TPF through corporate matching gift programs.) These gifts can be made in any amount, and may permit you to claim an income tax charitable deduction in accordance with IRS guidelines. Gifts of long-term appreciated securities and property can also allow you to enjoy additional tax benefits; consult your financial advisor or contact us for more information. You Can Make a Difference in the FutureA number of gift plans that secure future revenue for TPF also offer a number of financial benefits for you today, from lifetime income for you and your family to various tax savings. Vehicles for these gifts range from charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder and other types of trusts to beneficiary designations on life insurance policies and retirement plan accounts. Please contact the Strategic Giving Office of The Point Foundation for more information on how you can arrange to support our important mission today and in the future. Special RecognitionThe Point Foundation is flexible in creating giving opportunities for donors that support the needs of our scholars. Three forms of support receive special recognition: Named ScholarshipsIndividuals who pledge a major annual gift for a minimum of four years and $25,000 per year for a total of $100,000 will be honored with a scholarship in their name. Donors may also choose to name a scholarship in honor of a loved one. Alumni ScholarshipsDonors who wish to support students at their alma mater in a significant way (either annually or on a one-time basis) will be recognized with a scholarship named for their college or university. Groups of donors from the same school may wish to pool their resources to create such a scholarship. Designated Colleges & UniversitiesThe Point Foundations Named and Alumni Scholarship programs can be combined to create named scholarships at designated colleges or universities. For example, the friends and family of Carlos Enrique Cisneros have created a scholarship in his name at his alma mater, American University, to honor his legacy and commitment to academic excellence. Major gifts may also be designated to support students in particular areas of study, such as environmental studies or decorative arts. Legacy SocietyMany donors demonstrate their commitment to The Point Foundation and its future through bequests in their wills. The Point Foundation works with these Legacy Donors and their executors to create a program that meets both the needs of our scholarship recipients and the wishes of the donor. Past bequests have been used to create named faculty lecture series and mentoring programs in addition to named and alumni scholarships, ensuring recognition of the donors generosity endures for generations to come. Acknowledgement LettersTo save 100% of your donation for programs, TPF sends tax-acknowledgement letters ONLY after donations of $250 or more. For lesser contributions, we suggest that you keep your cancelled check, credit-card receipt or other written records substantiating the contribution for tax purposes.
