Lancaster’s dynamic leadership has grown the foundation to become one the leading LGBT philanthropic organizations in the nation. “Being part of the Point Foundation in its early stages has been a life-changing experience for me,” said Lancaster, “The scholars inspire me and it has been my privilege to lead the organization’s growth and help more deserving students achieve their goals and dreams,” Lancaster added. “My partner, John Taylor and I plan to start a family and to devote more time to our real estate investment business. I will continue as Executive Director until June 30, 2006 and I wanted to be sure to give us all enough time to create an orderly, effective transition. I plan to remain involved with and supportive of the Foundation after my departure.” “Vance first became involved with the foundation as a Trustee in 2003. Recognizing his outstanding leadership abilities we invited him to serve as Executive Director and join the Board of Directors,” said Bruce Lindstrom, Chairman, Board of Directors and founder. “Vance has taken the foundation from entrepreneurial start-up to a formidable presence in the LGBT ranks. He has set the stage for the future of the foundation. The Point Foundation’s organization, donor-base, revenues and national recognition, have grown significantly and Vance’s leadership has truly enabled this remarkable growth,” Lindstrom added. The Point Foundation began in 2001. Under Lancaster, revenues have continued to increase significantly and the foundation has begun a sizable endowment for its sustainable future. Donations have continued to grow each year. Recently, the foundation has enjoyed tremendous visibility with the stories of scholars and the organization’s work appearing in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Advocate, and on Oprah. The Point Foundation was prominently featured in a cover story about gay teens in Time magazine in October 2005. “Vance has been an exceptional leader, propelling the Point Foundation to new heights and growing the organization both financially and programmatically,” said John Pence, Chairman, Board of Trustees. “We are thrilled he will continue his work with Point in a personal capacity,” concluded Pence. The Point Foundation Board of Directors and Trustees have finalized a strategic organizational transition plan. A nationwide search for Lancaster’s successor has begun.
