Scott McKee
Georgia Institute of Technology
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Scott was born and raised in Houston, Texas with his parents and two older sisters. He came out to his parents during his sophomore year in high school, which created an adverse environment in his home. He worked with other students to petition administrators at the school and district levels for the formation of a Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), which was created the last month of his senior year. Scott now attends the Georgia Institute of Technology and majors in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Scott has dedicated himself to LGBT advocacy because he wants to assist others with their struggles related to an LGBT lifestyle and to promote equality for all people. After presiding as President of Pride Alliance, a social and advocacy student organization, for two years, Scott now contributes as the Student Advisor to the organization. He also serves as the Student Coordinator for Safe Space, a training program to encourage a supportive environment for LGBT members of the campus. In addition to being recognized as a leader on campus, he has received Dean’s List or Faculty Honors every semester, and he wishes to focus on alternative fuel and energy production after graduation.
