Scott Troppy
Scott was born and raised in Channelview, a small town east of Houston, Texas. After surviving and graduating summa cum laude from high school he graduated from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin in 1989. He then moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1991 where he volunteered with Aids Action Committee (AAC) as a volunteer in the Buddy Program. After volunteering with AAC he decided to pursue a master’s degree of Public Health at Boston University. Scott worked full-time at Boston University in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations where he learned the fine art of event planning, creative fundraising, and detailed stewardship skills. He graduated in 1998 with a dual concentration in Bio-Statistics/Epidemiology and Health Policy/Management. He has worked for the Veterans Administration, Boston Public Health Commission and currently works at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the Bureau of Infectious Disease for the Office of Integrated Surveillance and Informatics Services. In addition to also being a Point Foundation Mentor, Scott is involved with several charities in the Boston area. He is also interested in childhood hunger, spatial analysis and racial/ethnic health disparities. Scott is interested in helping Point Foundation grow through outreach, stewardship, and creative fundraising in the Boston area and looks forward to working with everyone at the PF!
